James J. Davis, Secretary of Labor, was frequently mentioned last week in Washington as a candidate for the governorship of Pennsylvania to succeed Gifford Pinchot. The Pennsylvania Senators, (Pepper and Reed) and Secretary of the Treasury Mellon are understood to be supporting him.
