...like every boxing picture you ever saw: a gifted, morally principled, rather innocent fighter discovers that the real world is full of crooks and shysters. The fighter reluctantly confronts those who would sully his name and game, wins some sort of conditional victory over them. And gets the girl besides...
...rates of rich-world diseases such as obesity and diabetes and encouraging high-end health services, some of which offer world-class care but remain far beyond the reach of the vast majority of Indians. It's these services - think of last year's surgery to save an Indian girl born with four arms and four legs - and the skill of India's world-class doctors that the country brags about when its marketers sell India as a medical-tourism destination and an emerging health-services giant. ...might not want to let their 6-year-olds watch a show about a teen pop star. But Cyrus has based her career--and Disney its franchise--on offering a safe harbor. Greenslade expects most of the anniversary coverage will likewise hew to a "respectful" line toward the couple...
...Japanese do get a new panda of their own, they can only hope the animal will be more fruitful than Ling Ling. With a name meaning "darling little girl" in Chinese, Ling Ling, a male, was probably confused. He had no luck mating with female giant pandas. His potential mate in Ueno, Tong Tong, died in 2000, without issue. Playdates with pandas in Mexico were also unsuccessful. At the end, he probably just stopped trying. Ling Ling was 22 when he died - roughly equivalent to 70 human years...
