Roman Polanski's arrest in Switzerland more than three decades after he was convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl prompted howls of protest from his defenders. France's Culture Minister said the filmmaker, who fled the U.S. in 1978, had been "thrown to the lions"; Martin Scorsese, David Lynch and Woody Allen, among others, signed a petition calling for his immediate release. ...Poon has announced the completion of its second parody novel, Nightlight: A Parody, a satiric take on the oh-so-popular Twilight phenomenon. The book follows Belle Goose, a young girl who becomes convinced the new boy in school is a vampire and her soulmate, despite evidence that he thinks girls are "repulsive." The Edward character from the real novel goes by Edwart in this version, a name which the book itself informs us is "Much funnier than Edward...

What's the next book you're working on? The next project is tentatively titled The Chinchilla Girl in Exile. It's about a 9-year-old girl who has hypertrichosis, which is a condition in which you have lots and lots of hair. She looks kind of like Jo Jo the Dog-Faced Boy. She's pretty hairy, and she's been homeschooled because her family doesn't think she is going to succeed socially in school. But she's very plucky, and she wants to have a normal life, so they reluctantly allow her to go to school...
