...that's why Kutiman's viral orchestras are so fascinating. Unlike Philadelphia mash-up guru Gregg Gillis (a.k.a Girl Talk), who mixes hit pop songs and familiar classics, many of the YouTube clips selected by Kutiman, when viewed apart from one another, are ... well... bunk. Who wants to watch - or, for that matter, hear - a vintage fire siren wailing away on a piece of plywood? Or a Cuban percussion instrument made from a gourd. OK, that one is kinda cool, but footage of a trombone recital recorded by an unsteady, possibly intoxicated cameraman? No, thank you. In the Israeli maestro...

Peter has honed the wrong skills; in this movie he doesn't have to get the girl; he already has her. He has to become a supporter of Guy Marriage. And he needs another guy, someone who lives in the modern movie world, to teach him. Peter and Sydney represent old and new movie men as sure as Vivien Leigh's Blanche duBois and Marlon Brando's Stanley...

Quincy letters are generally expected to generate loud cheering and extreme happiness. This is standard. But most of this year's recipients--with the exception of a couple of Greenough groups--remained strangely apathetic, with one girl even shooing the earnest upperclassmen away from her door. The Quincyites made several attempts to infiltrate frosh rooms in order to elevate the excitement, but to no avail: most newbies stood around rather awkwardly, accepting their fate happily but not emoting much more...
