...still to be found within the Democratic party, they were likely disabused of that notion by the results of Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary. After six weeks of an increasingly negative contest, Clinton's solid, 10-point victory almost guarantees that the Democratic race will continue into June. The once-gleeful pundits now find themselves turning their rental cars toward Indiana while Republicans marvel at their luck and Democrats try to game out a resolution that doesn't involve a convention-floor battle in Denver...

...finds Merritt lamenting the past and regretting the future, all to cathartic piano lines that belong at the end of some charmingly schmaltzy John Hughes film. The churning, guitar-warped exchange between Simms and Merritt that composes “Please Stop Dancing,” the desperately gleeful bender-banter on “Too Drunk to Dream,” and the hopelessly defiant crescendo of “I’ll Dream Alone” project a moving triptych of the death of the relationship, and, taken individually, make for some of the album?...

...Meanwhile, India's actual opposition, led by the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, is positively gleeful over the government's failure: Last Tuesday, BJP chief L.K. Advani derided Singh as the "weakest Prime Minister India has ever had," mocking his "opportunistic alliance" with the Left Front. Of course, the BJP had also agitated vociferously against the deal, but many suspect that had the hawkish, U.S.-friendly BJP been in power, they would have more likely embraced the nuclear treaty...
