...suggesting that Forman is a conscious innovator in form, or that he will necessarily continue his gleeful negligence of film grammar. No doubt his rough spots could be sanded away by a valedictorian from any of the academics. It doesn't much matter. ...begin with? They would be pretty bad, that's what. But they would also attract big entertainment-hungry audiences. Last week, after the third round of World Première, a series of special, two-hour TV-movies being filmed by Universal Pictures, NBC was in gleeful possession of at least the No. 2 and 4 ratings among all the movies shown this season-topped only by ABC's incredibly popular rerun of a movie-movie, Bridge on the River Kwai. Behind Harel's attacks, Mapai Party spokesmen thought they saw the hand of his old boss, David Ben-Gurion, who last year broke with Eshkol and formed the opposition Rafi Party. Gleeful Rafi men expected to pick up some support from disenchanted Mapai members and hoped eventually to unseat Eshkol. Last week they were spreading rumors that Mapai intended to replace Eshkol with either Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir or former Foreign Minister Golda Meir...
