...parity around the league is not the only cause for optimism. Harvard has a strong nucleus returning. Four of the five starters from the end of the season are back. Losing last year’s captain and leading scorer Jim Goffredo ’07 will hurt, but Lin is ready to step into his spot. Harris and Housman are both All-Ivy caliber players, and the influx of three talented freshmen and maturation of a strong group of sophomores should provide the Crimson with a strong bench.Another factor in Harvard’s favor is Amaker. Not only...

...Amaker. He constantly brought in high-ranking high school ballers to Michigan—his 2004 class contained three four-star prospects. But it’s a new phenomenon in Cambridge. In the past six classes, only two players had stars—former captain Jim Goffredo ’07 and junior guard Drew Housman were each two-star prospects.Amaker’s pitch to high schoolers is changing that. Last, but hopefully not least, is the Crimson. On paper, it should be better than this season, as the team loses just one starter—though that one starter is leading scorer Jim Goffredo. Among the returnees, Drew Housman could be the best point guard in the league with Jaaber gone and Evan Harris should be one of the better frontcourt players in the Ivies (even if he still can’t go to his right). Plus, many freshmen played well in limited minutes towards the end of the year, perhaps setting the stage for big sophomore seasons...
