...then there's Charley Gogolak, probably the most publicized football player in the country. The Hungarian-born soccer-style kicker has broken just about every national field goal kicking record. He has booted 15 this year (in 19 attempts) and has kicked 42 consecutive extra points from if the Princeton backfield were comprised of four basket cases, the Tigers would still have an effective offense with Gogolak...
Without a good serial attack and without the ability to run through Princeton's rugged defensive line, Harvard will probably be shut out. If Charley Gogolak had a broken leg, one could pray for a scoreless lie. But he's healthy, unfortunately, so the only question surrounding today's game seems to be how much Princeton can roll up the score. Our guess is that two touchdown passes by Landeck and three field goals by Gogolak will give Princeton a 23-0 victory.Don Sadoski (43) is blocked by teammate (mercifully unidentifiable) and falls easy prey to a Penn tackier...
...they didn't want to talk much about Saturday. "We'll need three touchdowns to look like anything against Princeton." Dockery said "You don't talk about holding them down. How do you stop Charlie Gogolak, who hasn't had a field goal attempt blocked all season?" He sighed...
...have to get too cute. Guard Stas Maliszewski is an All-America. Tailback Landeck turned down five Big Ten offers to come East to college. And any time the Tigers bog down within 40 yds. or so of pay dirt, they can always call on the services of Charlie Gogolak. Like his brother Pete, who boots field goals and extra points for the American Football League's champion Buffalo Bills, Charlie kicks the ball soccer-fashion, with his instep rather than his toe-and he already holds practically every college place-kicking record. So far this season...
...yielded only 33 points this year, so it is very doubtful whether the passing of Bob Hall (impressive as his statistics are) will give Dick Colman's boys any trouble. If Princeton can score 51 against Penn, they could probably rack up 100 points against the Bruins--with Charley Gogolak kicking a field goal in the last seconds of play, no doubt...
