While Nutty II was in production, Baker was also working on Grinch, racing his golf cart between sets on the Universal lot. Finally, he was ready to lavish time on his family. "I waited until I was older to have children," says Baker, who has two girls (Rebecca, 7, and Veronica, 11) with wife Silvia, a former movie hairstylist. "My work was basically my life for so long, I wanted to get to a certain place in my career before I made the commitment...

Consider U.X. Open contestant Donnie McFadden, 30, a steakhouse chef, heavy-metal music fan and newly minted golf nut from Hobbs, N.M. His fashion sense is decidedly more WWF than PGA: tank top and shorts, shaved head, piercings and a sun tattoo across one forearm. "Golf shouldn't be about age or tax bracket," he barks. Laughs Michael Caruso, editor of Rupert Murdoch's new Gen-X magazine Maximum Golf (which claims a circulation of 300,000): "There's something to be said for anything that explodes the old form. Anyone who has not seen this man in action should switch on the TV and watch him play a full tournament. I'm a 20-year-old who is finally getting a chance to see a superstar in the making. I've become a fan and player of golf in no small part thanks to Tiger. The scary thing...

...bothered with Tour coverage; ABC followed Tiger Woods' admittedly rollicking win at the British Open with auto racing while NBC and FOX fiddled around with various ball-related games. CBS was locked out of British Open coverage but found a way to bore us anyway with "The Story of Golf" (a repeat, I might add), which ran from 2:30 to 5 in the afternoon. Prime Sunday advertising territory - lost to a rerun...
