...political philosopher as well as a financier. Last week Secretary Mellon narrowed the gap between himself and Hamilton by laying down certain principles of government: Responsibility. "A stable government must rest upon the confidence of its people. High administrative offices must be en trusted with responsibility and on their good faith, proven by the test of time, the people must rest." ...your editorial. You say that they (President Lowell and I) are agreed that drinking and the sale of liquor have gone on practically undiminished: I do not agree to any such statement. ...electricity will tend to concentrate in the material which offers least resistance to its passage, and valuable evidence concerning the relative conductivity of the rocks that comprise the area can be gained by observing with suitable devices the distribution of current. A convergence of flow lines into a good conductor can be readily detected, and even the effects of better conducting material at considerable depth can often be estimated with a fair degree of assurance. Of course, all masses of rock in the earth that are good conductors are not necessarily bodies. Barren graphitic slates rock beds soaked with salt...
...when New York was unmoved by "Anything Your Heart Desires". There are tumblers, Arab being this week's nationality, and there is a ventriloquist seal that limitates a lamb, a horse and a bee. The seal also blows out Dunhill lighters, which proves that there's so much good in the worst of us it hardly behooves any of us to talk about the rest...
