...minute halves were played. In the first the graduates kept the ball well into the 'varsity's territory for a few minutes through Corbett's kicking and frequent fumbles by the 'varsity. The 'varsity then got to work and by steady rushes worked the ball down to the four yard line, when time was called. In the second half the graduates lost the ball at once on a fumble. The 'varsity worked it down to within two yards of the line when Wrightington fumbled. Corbett kicked and the 'varsity then did the best playing of the afternoon. Good clean rushes...
...this race number 3, the winner, took advantage of having the inside position by keeping close to the bank, while number 6 swung too far out and took a longer course than was necessary. Both boats kept well together at the start, but number 3 gradually got the lead and kept it throughout, increasing it towards the end, and winning by about one and one half lengths. The rowing of all the crews was very irregular, the men finding it much easier to splash water than to keep in stroke...
...good game the eleven played on Saturday. The second eleven were about a match for the first and kept the 'varsity backs from making gains, whether around the ends, or through the center. During the first half hour the first eleven failed to score. Two or three times they got the ball down to the ten yard line, only to lose it on four downs. The great trouble with the backs was that they did not get started quickly enough and that, even when started, they ran listlessly. Brewer showed no falling off, but both Waters and Gray were below...
...although several of the men played a very good game. There was altogether too much off-side play by the first eleven, and the interferance did not seem to be strong enough as time after time the second eleven backs broke through and tackled the 'varsity backs before they got fairly started. The interferers simply pushed a man aside when they could just as well have knocked him down...
...first eleven scored in short order when once they got the ball, but had great trouble in holding the second eleven on four downs, just as they had with Dartmouth on Saturday...
