The need of a new library and a reading room is a crying one, growing more and more obvious every year and long ago reaching a point where some action must be taken. Gove Hall has long since ceased to be satisfactory; it is built upon a poor model and is too small to hold our increasing library, while the reading-room is narrow, cramped, poorly ventilated and totally inadequate. A library building such as this is hardly a credit to the university...
