Actually, a softer approach to Red Chinese membership in the U.N. has been indicated in the past by at least one member of the Eisenhower Administration. Wrote John Foster Dulles in his book, War or Peace: "If the Communist government of China in fact proves its ability to govern China without serious domestic resistance, then it, too, should be admitted to the United Nations."
