I., operates the Loray Mills, producing yarn for cord tires. Six months ago the National Textile Workers Union began organizing in this and neighboring mills. Last week they came into the open, called a strike answered by 1,000 Loray workers. They demanded: a $20 minimum weekly wage, a 40-hour (five-day) week, abolition of the "stretch-out" system, a 50% cut in company rents and light rates, recognition of the union.
