...auteur to the bone, his biggest grace and ultimate dilemma. His productions trace a clear evolution, each new single a complete and painstaking reinvention. And they consistently have machines one-upping humans at their game (the programmed rhythm in “Are You That Somebody,” too inhumanly angular and precise for a real drummer’s arms, being my favorite example) while the actual performers vocalize in stark contrast, like any good pop star. Point being that Tim may have started to run out of new ways to augment his friends. (The latest Missy album...

...plane was full. Mary Grace found her recreation for the trip in the row immediately behind: a baby. She loves babies more than she loves dogs, and she loves dogs plenty. She loves to share whatever she has - dolls, food, fevers - with whatever baby she meets. ?Hey, Mary Grace,? I said. ?The baby?s a Pats? fan.? ...made some mistakes at Epcot. First, we booked a ?Lunch with the Characters? and Mary Grace is still scared . . . let?s say witless by characters. Whenever Pluto hove into view, she freaked. And both she and Jack lost it at ?Honey,? because a 3-D snake popping into your face is not want you want or need when you?re three. (Daddy?s gotta say, however: The effects were terrific...
