...murals throughout the city--more than in any other place in the world. On South 47th Street, a lush mural shows a row-house scene in the foreground with Van Gogh's Starry Night--inspired sky as a backdrop. Gigantic, stunning portraits of Dr. J and Malcolm X grace other buildings. Prince Charles visited the mural on 40th and Pennsgrove in January to see the outsize rendering of a girl reading a book that has a brilliant column of butterflies streaming...

...before 9/11, Giuliani spent eight years presiding over a city that was a known terrorist target. A TIME investigation into what he did - and didn't do - to prepare for a major catastrophe is revealing. In addition to extraordinary grace under fire, Giuliani developed an intimate knowledge of emergency management and an affinity for quantifiable results. On 9/11, he earned the trust of most Americans; one year later, 78% of those surveyed by the Marist Institute had a favorable impression of Giuliani. ...Weeds (which returns in August), Parker's pot-mama Nancy Botwin runs up against the expectations of suburban moms, but the show is as much about race and family and money. Damages is first of all a damned compelling legal mystery, and Patty a magnetic presence. And Saving Grace is finally about faith (and its absence), loss (the aftermath of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing) and redemption, as well as how we fight it. In an early scene, Grace's angel proves his powers by showing her a vision, and Grace --while disbelieving and resisting the miracle--is seduced...
