...table perquisites as well for favored officers. In 1976 Rear Admiral Ramzi Abbas Ata'i was found guilty of embezzling $25 million and fined $3.7 million. Some Iranians argue that his case was an exception and that top officers by and large are honest. Critics insist that graft is common and condoned, and that the Shah was forced to prosecute Ata'i only because his activities, which included transporting duty-free luxury goods from the Emirate of Dubai aboard navy ships, had become a general scandal...
...IDEA FOR Ira Levin's The Boys from Brazil is potentially no more idiotic than those which have fueled many successful Hollywood thrillers. A nasty Nazi doctor clones 94 infants from a graft of Hitler's skin, and plants his babies all over the world, trusting that in the correct environment at least a quarter of them will grow up to be fuhrers. It might have worked as satire of Hollywood, because these Nazis think like producers and studio-heads: Why bother to devise something new when cloning the old formula makes for a smashing success...

An actor, or writer, of parts might have...
...irony of the Soviet press campaign on behalf of Harris is Moscow's professed horror that he faces the death penalty. In the Soviet Union, people found guilty of such crimes as bribery, graft and theft of state property are sometimes executed by firing squad. Last month, one A.G. Metlushko was sentenced to death in Byelorussia for a series of armed assaults - crimes for which Johnny Harris got life...
