What do you do, and what do you tell kids, if Grandma is demented and in a nursing home? Move the whole party to the home. Tell the children, "Grandma may not recognize you, but she's still your grandma, and she likes to be touched and to hear our voices." Teach them to be affectionate, even if it's only one way.
