...Judge Grant entered Harvard in the fall of 1869, and received the degree of A. B. in 1873. Soon after leaving the College he entered the Graduate School, receiving the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 1876. He then determined to devote himself to the study of law, and enrolled himself among the members of the Law School. In 1879 he graduated with the degree of LL.B. and entered the Massachusetts Bar, of which he soon became a very prominent member.
