Some of the characters in particular, such as the Dutch shipmaker Vanderdendur, the New World governor and the Old Lady, rely on stereotypical accents and mannerisms as well. There is also rather graphic scene in which Cunegonde is nearly raped by a soldier. Certainly, there is a tradition in the esprit francais of irony, satire, parody ody that pokes fun at every institution, goodor bad. ...Jersey. "It's an adjustment coming from a daily paper with a regional audience to a magazine with a global one." But last week Gabel, who designs three-dimensional illustrations for TIME, faced a different challenge. At midweek, he was called upon to create a special foldout graphic on Internet companies, even as cyberdeals and rumors of cyberdeals were in the air, requiring constant revisions in the way the illustration was conceived. I've tried most of them and can't see a difference, frankly. So my advice to gamers is to spend as little as possible. Now, the choice between a cow and a moose Monimal, though, is something we can discuss...
