Burr kicked off to Graydon, who ran back 10 yards to the 30-yard line. After gaining one first down, the second eleven lost the ball on a fumble on their 30-yard line. Foster made four yards through right tackle, after which he was replaced by Rand. Howes caught Burr's kick-off on his 20-yard line. As the second team failed to gain Graydon punted, Newhall downing the ball for the University eleven in the middle of the field. In two plays the team carried the ball to the 20-yard line, Wendell making 25 yards through centre, and Macdonald 10 more on a forward pass.
