Playing for the world's championship for the first time in his career, he became 22 on the day that he won one of the six matches that put him in a tie for second place with Erwin Rudolph and Andrew Ponzi. In the playoff, Caras beat Rudolph by 125-to-8. Later the same day he disposed of Ponzi, 12540-94, in a match which ended with Caras' dangerous cut-shot...
