She maintained a military hospital in Belgrade, importing British nurses to staff it. During the World War she toured the U. S. again, raised $100,000 for Serbian relief. The Grouitches were intimate friends of assassinated King Alexander and of Queen Marie. Often they played bridge at the palace.
