He walked the first batter, Tom Barrett, then picked up Duke Duzukola's easy grounder and spoiled a double killing by heaving the pellet to Carlton in centerfield, Barrett and Duzukola advancing a base of course. Then came the first of two wild pitches, but Eckenroth's throw to Wallace was in time to catch Barrett coming home.
