...think of a much more appropriate s-word to fill in for Daniel Choi's recent guest editorial ("A Way Out Of Affirmative Action," Opinion, Oct. 28, 1995) where he presents "a disarmingly simple" way to dissuade the objections to affirmative action." Choi seems to think that by making affirmative action a voluntary consideration for women/minority groups these candidates will be able to assert their true ability and render affirmative action unnecessary. Joshua Redman brought his highly communicative quartet to Sanders Theater on Sunday night, and it was, in his own words, "a trip." Despite the lingering immaturity of his own saxophone style, Redman has put together a solid jazz group which, with the guest appearance of the greatest bass player of our generation, Christian McBride, put the Sanders Theater stage to good use. The packed house reacted enthusiastically to Redman's every move and indeed there were moments in the show when Redman's playing almost lived up to his charisma and popular appeal...

...when she was 35 years old. She followed the Simpson proceedings religiously as a diversion from her own death sentence. After learning of Lynne's case, Judge Ito offered her seats in the courtroom. On July 25, she accepted and spent the afternoon session in court as his guest. Upon her arrival, Judge Ito invited her into his chambers, and during the afternoon break, he sent his law clerk to ask if Lynne would like to come back to his chambers and rest. In the weeks that followed her visit, Judge Ito continued to call to check on her condition...
