There were at least 15,000 Wall Street clerks there, crowded so thickly that they forced Kuhn, Loeb & Co.'s employes to fight their way out of the smoked banking offices to watch their own fire...
TIME actually does give the events of the day in thorough and concentrated fashion. It does omit surplus verbiage. But it also gives unnecessary and vulgar sensational stories-and it gives these stories in a manner more objectionable than that used by the gum-chewers' sheetlets so greatly decried by TIME...
Sirs : . . . One little suggestion for a better TIME?Don't be so contemptuous of your contemporaries. "Gum-Chewers' Sheetlet," "Pinko Political Weekly," etc. I know nothing about the Gum-Chewers' papers but the New Republic which you call Pinko, I value even above TIME on my magazine list. As for Physical Culture, which you so lately maligned, it has done and is doing much good in the world and deserves better treatment than you have given...
