In extenuation of Winslow's error, it should be said that when at the bat, in the first half of the inning, he was hit in the head by a poor pitch by Gunderson, and had to stop playing for fully five minutes. After this, Brown was unable to score until the ninth innings, being entirely unable to hit Winslow's bewildering curves...
