...spite of Saturday's 3 to 2 loss to Phillips Exeter Academy, the Yardling soccer team seems on its way up. Coach Andrew "Poley" Guyda predicts "that if the team can start the way they finished against Exeter, they will have a pretty good chance against Dartmouth Friday. ...Guyda has two good right wings in Gordon Fair and Johnny Youmans. Fair is speedy, but still needs more bad control. Youmans is a "goal-getter"--a quality Guyda regards as necessary in a good wing. After watching Youmans play with the varsity Monday, varsity coach Bruce Munro thought he looked very promising. Bill Cowperthwaite at inside right has been a good team player and makes excellent passes. He is fast, but only for short sprints. Like other freshman center forwards. Dave Wise, although very aggressive, has the tendency to get sucked back into the play instead of staying upfield...
