...saddened by the educational news which appeared in TIME, Sept. 15 under the heading "Vale, Pueri." I was also saddened by that Latin. If one were addressing one boy alone, salve and vale would be used, but as several pueri were addressed, the hail and farewell should have been salvete and valete respectively. I trust Mr. Solomon was misquoted...
