...through the centre, missed scoring only through Harvard's making a firm stand on her 5-yard line. Taken all in all, the game was an interesting contest, and in one particular at least, namely in the decided improvement shown by the eleven as a whole during the second half, was illustrative of the effect of quick, snappy play upon an opposing team. Harvard, it may be said, played erratically. In the first half, practically the whole Harvard line was through twice to block punts. In the same half, practically the whole Amherst eleven piled through on Haughton...

...three squads of candidates for the Freshman football team went through their signal practice in the first half of yesterday's play. After this preliminary work two short halves were played against the second 'Varsity. Hallowell's squad lined-up for the first half and played a very fast, lively game. Daly, kicked splendidly. Several times he returned the ball for a good gain when the other team was almost on top of him. The second 'Varsity scored once in this half. The Freshmen failed to score although they had the ball on their opponents five-yard line once. The 1901 line-up in the second half was; W. Lawrence, r. e.; Mackay...

...work yesterday. None of the squads were out early and all of the available time was spent in running through the signals. Ex-Captain Wrightington gave the backs valuable points on the formation of interference and got them to playing together and starting quicker. Sawin was at right half in place of Brown, throughout the practice, and showed up well in most of the plays. Considering the unfavorable conditions of rain and a slippery field, the running of the backs was decidedly encouraging...
