GALES FERRY, June 14.--Late this afternoon the Yale university crew and the, freshman crew rowed two miles up the river returning in two stretches of one mile each. The university crew won by half a length in the first brush and a length and a half in the second. The stroke of the first crew was kept at 28 and that of the freshman crew at 30.
