...movie showed Perseus being raised by his mother and driven by love of the Argosian princess Andromeda. Here, Perseus is raised by his loving adoptive father Spyros (Pete Postlethwaite), and thinks of himself as a fisherman, not a warrior; a working-class bloke, not a half-Olympian. He's the god-man as grunt, and Worthington - his accent wandering at whim from Australian to English to Iowan - plays Perseus as a wily proletarian, not far from the Jason Statham stud in Leterrier's 2006 movie Transformer 2. Blewis says the economy contributed to his enthusiasm for running, which became a positive outlet in a year when he has had to lay off half his staff at the glass company he manages. "It's a depressing time for many, and training for a marathon makes people feel like they belong again," he said. "There is always someone telling you 'Good job' or 'You can do it. Don't quit - you're almost there.'" Which is probably why so many people keep talking about it on Facebook...
