Died. Gardner Hale, 32, fresco painter and interior decorator; of injuries suffered in an automobile accident; in Santa Maria, Calif. A Harvard graduate and son of Prof. William Gardner Hale, first director of the American Academy in Rome, he decorated many mansions in Europe and the U.
