Most of them are living lives very much like the ones they lived in college, minus the homework. They live in shared, cramped rooms with college friends, even sometimes with their actual college roommates, lit by rather familiar-looking halogen lamps and decorated with posters, not pictures, on the walls. A handful know how to cook, but those who can cook treat it almost like a hobby, not a daily task. The rest survive on large quantities of frozen food, spaghetti and Ramen Noodles. These informal bargaining arenas allow seniors to advertise items for sale, in many cases objects that might seem bulky and useless outside of the college environment--like a futon or halogen lamp. Prospective undergrad buyers inspect the goods and sometimes try to haggle over price...

The darkness is creeping in, leaving me squinting inches from the page. Extensive searches of the halogen bulbs and considerations of the (negligible) overhead brightness have come up with nothing. I am beginning to worry that I too will see my optometrist next week and he will strengthen my prescription...
