Veteran Hollywood Musical Star Jane Powell, 44, will make her Broadway debut on schedule this week in the '20s hit show Irene despite a behind-the-scenes handicap. Director Gower Champion, busy with a new musical, declined to rehearse with Jane. Luckily, an interim replacement was at hand: Debbie Reynolds, 41, her predecessor as Irene.
