...Kremlin) and the proverbial cast of thousands, the eight- hour, $27 million epic looks spectacular. Maximillian Schell, the most prominent of four actors who play Peter, has moments of leonine power, and Vanessa Redgrave is striking as his treacherous sister. But the rest of the all-star cast--including Hannah Schygulla, Laurence Olivier, Trevor Howard and Mel Ferrer--is lost in the pageantry. Edward Anhalt's script is flabby and inert, and history is contaminated with hokey invention (a bogus meeting in London, for instance, between Peter and Sir Isaac Newton...

...bustling Schmidt retains a boyish quality, never more so than when he is rooting for his favorite athletes, hockey's New York Rangers. His engaging lack of inhibition prompted him to accept a cameo role as a doctor in Woody Allen's forthcoming film Hannah and Her Sisters. Truth to tell, the movie appearance was set up by Schmidt's third wife, Helen Cutting Whitney, producer and director of ABC and PBS documentaries on such topics as McCarthyism and homosexuality, and co-author, with Eugenia Zuckerman, of a feature-film script titled K.589...

...went to public high school," says Hannah Gittleman '87, "and Harvard students were always kind of a joke guess it was basically because the ones we noticed were the ones that stuck out the most--the ones who got drunk and ran through Harvard Square singing loudly and being obnoxious. We definitely had a bad image of Harvard students...
