...production are excellent. The settings by William and Jean Eckart are ingenious and colorful. They have overcome the common musical comedy problem of the transition from scene to scene by integrating the stage changes into the opening moments of each succeeding scene. The chorography, under the direction of Hanya Holm, is responsible for the best number in the show, a ballad sung by Reuben and pantomimed by an extraordinary pair of dancers, Sondra Lee and Timmy Everett. Miss Holm has also staged a wonderfully humorous street fight, as well as a terrifying yet lovely ballet in an insane asylum...

What was basically a hackneyed plot--boy has girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back--is saved by a play within a play. Director John C. Wilson has combined the best scenes from "The Taming of the Shrew" with Porter's music and some exciting choreography by Hanya Holm to make a highly entertaining show. Lemuel Ayers' costumes and settings are not only magnificent but give the production a light pastel touch which keeps it from being the usually garish musical comedy...
...does the rest of the show offer much compensation. The Cole Porter songs, such as No Lover for Me, are pleasant enough, but not really exciting, and the Porter lyrics generally display his signature without his skill. Hanya Holm enlivens the show with her decorative dances. And Out of This World brings back to Broadway, after 20-odd years, likable, prancing, perpendicular Comedienne Charlotte Greenwood. But it more or less brings her back in chains...
