This sort of haphazard bandying about of notions like diversity and elitism mocks the real meaning of the words. Harvard is not being elitist when it declines to open its doors to a killer. Acceptance here is no one's right. Rather, it is a privilege that should be selectively awarded based on each applicant's character, demonstrated commitment to excellence and capacity for achievement. Often, these standards are difficult to measure objectively; sometimes, no doubt, Harvard makes mistakes.
