...Freshman football team was defeated by Exeter on Soldiers Field Saturday by a score of 11 to 0 in an interesting and hard-fought game. Although playing against a heavier team, the Freshmen displayed spirit and made a good showing. Exeter gained consistently outside of tackle and made several long gains on quarterback runs after a delayed pass. The Freshmen were unable to force their opponents' line until the second half and then only at times between tackle and guard. ...hard 20-minute line-up yesterday afternoon between teams A and B of the Freshman football squad, team A scored one touchdown after rushing the ball 50 yards on mass plays through guard and tackle. ...Haven, Conn., Oct. 12.--Yale defeated the Springfield Training School eleven on Yale Field this afternoon by the score of 6 to 0, in a hard game marred by much fumbling and numerous penalties. On the offense, Yale was strong; her defense, however, was unable to withstand Springfield's heavy line and strong attack, and allowed the visiting team to make first down five times.
