...University eleven held its last practice on the old field yesterday, and practice today will be on the Stadium field. Yesterday's scrimmage between the first and second elevens lasted for nearly 30 minutes and was hard and fast. The defense and, except for very poor punting, the offense of the University eleven were in general good, although the eleven was once scored on, and was several times forced to punt when carrying the ball. ...clean, hard fought contest. Exeter defeated Andover at Exeter. Saturday by the score of 14 to 11, in the annual football game between the two academies. Unexpected speed, combined with superior weight and a heavy back-field, gave the Exeter eleven its victory. In the first half Exeter clearly out-played their opponents, but in the second half Andover gained 136 yards to Exeter's 98 and secured first down 21 to Exeter's 14 times. Parkinson has played a hard, aggressive and generally effective game, and is of all the linesmen except Bowditch probably the most reliable. A. Marshall, at right guard, and Knowlton, at right tackle, are heavy and strong, but have not as yet shown the speed and aggressiveness which would enable them on the defense to break through and stop plays or on the offense to open the way effectually for their own backs.
