...last year's team only four men, the left side of the line and the centre, are left. Most of the stars, including Hudson, Pierce, Metoxen, Senees, and Miller, have graduated from the school. Though the new men are said to have developed rapidly, their lack of experience in hard games will count against them considerably, so that it is safe to say that the team is not as strong as it was last year. Harvard is also below the standard of last year, as the method of gradual development is now employed and the eleven has not yet reached...

...year ago. Hallowell and Campbell are still below their form and it is some question whether they are not being surpassed by Ristine and Bowditch. Eaton's game at left tackle shows more energy and spirit. Lawrence still has the fault of playing his opponent too hard and not keeping an eye on the ball. In breaking through he fails to throw himself in front of the runner. Lee lacks fight and tends to play too far from centre. Burnett is working well into right guard though he plays high on charging his man. Of the backs, Kendall still tackles...

...Marvin 2L. successfully defended his title of University tennis champion for the fifth time yesterday by defeating W. H. Laverack '01 in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. The match was more closely contested than the score shows, for nearly every game was hard fought. Marvin was much steadier than Laverack and although he had fewer clean passes to his credit, he made on the other hand fewer outs and nets. Marvin's service was not a hard as Laverack's but was more accurate and he served only one double fault in the three sets to Laverack...

...practice yesterday was the longest and hardest that has been done this season. The first and second elevens played two halves of twenty five minutes each, and the men were kept hard at work by the coaches. The playing of the first eleven was very poor. The second scored once on a brilliant end run of sixty yards by Putnam, and held the first eleven down to one touchdown. The first eleven kept the ball out of its own territory fairly well and a few times came near the goal line, but it was twice held for downs...

...Everett's death has left a gap that will be hard to fill. No mere mention of his attainments as a theologian, or as a man of letters can pay the needed tribute to the man. His personality will always be reflected in the work of the many young men who studied under him and who learned from him much more than could be taught by precept, thesis, or text-book...
