...childish to refer to Mr. Stassen as "Childe Harold" as it is to call the Vice President "Tricky Dicky." Shame...

Your Aug. 6 article, "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage," sounds as if it had been written by Styles Bridges and approved by William Jenner and Joseph McCarthy. TIME, it seems, would rather have a candidate already selected before the convention, thereby ignoring the vast selection of numerous other hopefuls who in my opinion would be at least 10% stronger politically than the present Vice President. If not Chris Herter, why not Governor Craig of Indiana...

...Stassen may not hope to really achieve much except give Mr. Nixon a few uneasy moments and perhaps the Republican Party a bit of trouble. Everybody knows that Stassen is interested only in one man in the universe and that fellow is Harold Stassen himself. No doubt he had his eye on the very job that Nixon landed...

...Well, Harold Schmidt has done it again. He managed to prepare some 80 or so amateur singers in less than six weeks and put on a superlative concert in Sanders Theatre. The result showed the wisdom of the Summer School administration in disregarding its unwritten rule of not engaging the same choral conductor in successive summers. Schmidt's accomplishment is all the more remarkable in view of the facts that he was beset by unusual handicaps this summer and that he chose works of greater difficulty than in the past...
