...tribute to Rodgers and Hart, complete with humming chicks in the back ground, Blue Moon is schmaltzy but fun: a lighthearted and amusing wave at an era that preceded Dylan's birth. Even better are his versions of Paul Simon's The Boxer and Gordon Light-foot's Early Mornin' Rain, the one just a shade more punchy than the original, the other just a shade more dawn-lit. Best of the borrowed songs, though, are his soft-slippered strolls through the California Gold Rush song Days of '49 and the woodsmoky American folk song...
Perhaps the single most stimulating parliamentary candidate is Actress Diane Hart, 43, an Independent, now under heavy attack for playing a brothel madam in the new film Two Women -and for wearing a see-through nightie in the role. Undoubtedly the most derivative candidate is one Edward James Robert Lambert Heath, who used to be plain old James Robert Lambert, a 28-year-old schoolteacher. They included Michigan's Senator Philip Hart, a leading spokesman for consumerism; Sam Brown, the Viet Nam Moratorium organizer; John Gardner, chairman of the National Urban Coalition; and Mrs. Martin Luther King. Probably no other labor leader could have drawn a similar lineup...
...White House pickets had a new reason for protesting after the Government recently introduced a 33-item questionnaire including the requirement that demonstration leaders list their arrest and conviction records as well as their views on the use of violence before permits would be issued. U.S. District Judge George Hart, a conservative and strict constructionist, surprised many civil libertarians when he struck down 15 of the 33 questions, ruling that the exhaustive questionnaire had a chilling effect on First Amendment freedoms. The Houston Peace Coalition won a similar court victory over city officials who discouraged political parades in the downtown...
