Another outstanding Hartwick freshman-who has an excellent chance of becoming an All-American by the end of his sophomore year-is goalie Frank Van Der Sommen. Whereas Meyers, hampered by an injured knee. let the ball come to him many of the times, Van Der Sommen continually moved out of the crease to catch high kicks and passes, cutting off possible scoring threats.
