After a frantic hour-and-a-half flurry of phone calls, at 8:15 a.m. Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Hassan El Zayyat, in New York for the U.N. meeting, called and claimed Israeli units had attacked Egyptian positions in the Gulf of Suez.
