John Belstead, an accident and emergency consultant at Britain's Ashford Hospital, which receives emergency cases from Heathrow Airport, estimates that the condition affects as many as 2,000 travelers in the U.K. each year, and that 15 of those die from DVT developed on long-haul flights.
