...Haven, Conn., October 4, 1909.--After the usual preliminary practice in starting, catching punts and tackling, a scrimmage was held between the university team and the college eleven, the former scoring ten points. Field made both touchdowns. The features of the play were Deming's punting, Goebel's work in the line, and a 40-yard run by Philbin around right end. In a 15-minute scrimmage the freshmen held the second college eleven to no score. Captain Coy appeared on the field for the first time since his illness, but he took no active part in the practice...
