Harvard was defeated by Haverford Saturday on Soldiers Field by the score of 99 to 101 not out. The game was played in a drizzling rain which became harder as the game progressed, softening the ground enough to affect the bowling considerably. Harvard's bowling suffered more from this than Haverford's, but there were other causes which contributed to the outcome. Haverford's bowling was swift, accurate and effective and their batting was very reliable. Harvard fielded miserably, but this was partly due to the slippery condition of the field...

...Haverford started in at the bat with the brilliant hitting of C. C. Morris, who stood with Wood and then with Patton. Several chances were missed by Fairweather, Tyng and Moore in the field, but Mather's excellent work at the wickets was a redeeming feature of the last part of the game. Stumps were drawn at 4 o'clock in a pouring rain with only four wickets down. The summary follows: HARVARD. Hinchman, c. C. C. Morris, b. Wood, 0 Drinkwater, run out, 17 Pasea, c. DeMotte, b. ...Haverford is hardly as strong as last year in any department. There are, it is true, seven men on the team who played on the English tour last summer, but the bowling department was chiefly dependent upon men who are not with the team this year. In bowing Captain Patton and Wood ware speedy, and De Motte though slower, is a steady man. C. C. Morris, Patton and F. W. Sharp are the principal batters on the team. In fielding the team is very accurate, and Roberts is a strong wicket keeper...

Harvard is considerably stronger than last year, when defeated by Haverford. In bowling, the old Haverford players, Justice and Hinchman, are both very effective, and O. Chew '03, who has developed promisingly of late, is a good change bowler. Hinchman, Mifflin, Mather and Pasea are all strong batters. Mifflin will keep wicket for Harvard. The chief weakness of the team is in the fielding which has been erratic at times. Altogether the two teams are well matched, although the chances seem to be slightly in Harvard's favor...
