...FAMOUS HAWAIIAN-beach kiss with co-star Burt Lancaster in the wartime drama From Here to Eternity introduced sex appeal, however tame it may seem by contemporary standards, to 1950s moviegoers. Previously cast for roles that accentuated her genteel English demeanor, Deborah Kerr gave a sultry performance that earned her a spot in history as one of Hollywood's premier sex symbols. Too tall to pursue her first love, ballet, Kerr also made her mark in roles like the starched governess in The King and I and a hopeless romantic in An Affair to Remember. She was nominated...

...dusk one evening, after shooting has finished for the day, the crew and producers gather for drinks against the red-brick colossus of an abandoned beer factory. A white-haired musician in a Hawaiian shirt plays classic rock. "There is going to be a lot of competition here in the future," Nemeth says. "New money typically wants glory. ...poured Antipodes, a nearly mineral-free, lightly carbonated water from New Zealand, which, because of its neutral pH, tasted pleasantly sweet against the soft cheese. With my tagliatelle with ragout, I drank a medium-carbonated, high-calcium Italian water. We also had one water that flowed through volcanic rock (Hawaiian Springs), two from melted glaciers (Hawaii's Kona Deep and Canada's unpleasantly sour 10 Thousand BC) and water freshly bottled from Tasmanian rain (Tasmanian Rain). To my surprise, the waters did taste different. Or felt different. Buying an occasional bottle of water no longer seemed insane...
