What in the end makes every Pudding Show a crowd-pleaser is the curtain-dropping kick-line. About halfway through the second act plot-lines begin to dissolve into a haze of anticipation; the audience gets restless waiting for the show's payoff. You forget about which actor played what part; they all don the same costumes, line up downstage, and dance. They kick, tap, waltz, jump, charleston--in Serfs Up! they even roll over and kick their feet in the air. This year's kick-line has excitement, surprises, and laughs, and even if the rest of the show...

This year the holiday also marked a political pause. A defeated Administration was tidying up loose ends before vanishing into history; a new Government was organizing itself to take over. The nation seemed to be looking forward, not with exuberance, but with a more realistic mood that mingled relief and hope. There was relief that the strident echoes of a divisive and interminable campaign...
...must "cure" Alan. The performers move in a seemingly eternal sunset--the muted orange glow of Dan Scherlis' and Alexis Layton's gorgeous lighting design--dissolving only when we venture into Alan's tortured memory, where he relives his psychotic pains and pleasures in an evilly beautiful indigo haze...
